What's in Maserati Brakes?

The brakes are one of the most critical safety systems in any vehicle, designed to slow down or completely stop the car when required. This system works by converting the vehicle’s kinetic energy into heat through friction. Most modern cars use a combination of disc brakes and, in some cases, drum brakes. The brake system comprises several key components, including brake pads, brake discs (rotors), calipers, brake lines, and a master cylinder. When the driver presses the brake pedal, hydraulic fluid transmits force to the calipers, pressing the pads against the discs to generate friction and reduce speed. Advanced braking systems may also include ABS, electronic brake-force distribution, and brake assist for improved safety and control.

Where it is located in the car? How should it be properly maintained?

The brake components are located at each wheel of the vehicle. In disc systems, the brake disc is mounted to the wheel hub and the caliper assembly clamps onto it when braking. In drum systems, the drum attaches to the wheel and brake shoes press outward to create friction. The hydraulic system, including brake lines and the master cylinder, connects the pedal to each wheel’s brakes. Maintenance is critical: inspect brake pads regularly and replace them before they wear down completely to prevent rotor damage. Brake fluid should be checked and replaced per the manufacturer’s schedule, as old fluid can reduce performance. Address any noises, vibrations, or reduced braking immediately, and avoid aggressive driving that causes overheating and warping of discs.
